New Family Information
Our PTO New Family Welcoming Committee is set up to help make your transition into Osborn as smooth and effortless as possible. The committee is designed to be a resource for new families entering into the school for the first time. We will provide you with important information to help you get acclimated into school, whether you are a first time family with a child entering kindergarten or a new family to the area. Following is some information to help you get ready for school in September.
School Handbook & Code of Conduct
Learn all about Osborn from getting ready for school to communication to drop off and pick-up and more. Also familiarize yourself with the school's code of conduct. View the online version of the Handbook & Code of Conduct.
Ongoing Communication at Osborn
On a weekly basis, typically on Sunday evenings, the Osborn Weekly is distributed through email. The Weekly highlights PTO News as well as important events happening at Osborn. All families are added to it, with their email address that's in the directory, but if you have a second family email address that you would like added, please e-mail the weekly editor at firstname.lastname@example.org. The Osborn PTO also uses Remind for text messages about upcoming events and deadlines.
New Family Buddy Program
Every new family will be paired with an existing Osborn family. The buddies are here to answer questions about the school and community for you, as well as any other questions that you may have. You can expect to hear from your Osborn buddy over the summer.
Osborn uses School Bee for its mobile directory. A hard copy is also published shortly after the beginning of the school year. Both include a listing of all families and class lists. To access the mobile and paper directory, all families need to sign up for PTO membership dues via PaySchools.
All new families should complete an Osborn Directory form and/or email the information in the form to our Directory co-chairs.
School supply lists are accessible on the Grade Level pages. Children should bring their supplies in their backpack or a separate bag on the first day of school. If you pre-ordered supplies through the PTO School Supply program, the supply kits will be delivered to the classroom.
Children entering Grades 1-5 have summer reading. All summer reading lists are posted on the Grade Level pages.
Class Placement Letters
Placement letters are mailed out at the end of August.
