About Our School

  • Rye Middle School (RMS) offers a rich learning environment that supports the academic performance, personal development and social growth of 819 students in grades 6 - 8 in Rye, NY.  The school’s organization, curriculum, pedagogy and programs are based on the developmental readiness, needs and interests of our students.  RMS administration, faculty and staff are committed to a comprehensive, shared vision of a school culture that includes:

  • RCSD Library Check Out Procedures

    Welcome back from the RCSD librarians! We are excited to be back in our libraries, even if it is much different than the same time last year. We are gearing up to start checking out books to our students and wanted to take a moment to outline the health and safety procedures our libraries have adopted.

    First of all, thank you for your patience throughout the process of restarting interscholastic athletics. As we receive guidance and communications from Section One and New York State, we will continue to inform you of any new information.

  • Travel Reminder for Upcoming Long Weekend

    A reminder to our families who may be traveling over the long weekend: according to Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order 205, a 14-day quarantine may be required upon your return to New York. The list of restricted states was updated on September 22; please check the COVID-19 NYS Travel Advisory for the most up-to-date list.

    I hope your children have come home with some positive stories about the first two weeks of school. We have had a relatively smooth beginning and continue to assess our procedures to make any needed adjustments.

    The District has created two documents that outline specific expectations of students during the remote portion of their learning in either the hybrid or fully-remote model. Please take a moment to review these documents with your children.

    We have now successfully completed our first full week of hybrid learning. Familiar daily routines are starting to solidify while the new procedures and protocols necessary for health and safety are in place and running smoothly.
