APPR or Annual Professional Performance Review is the process by which teachers and principals are annually evaluated in New York State. State law requires that classroom observations and student performance are included in the APPR evaluation process. The purpose of APPR is to assist educators in improving the quality of instruction and, in turn, to improve student performance. Through this process, teachers and principals receive an overall effectiveness rating every year. District APPR plans must meet State guidelines and be negotiated with local teachers' associations.

The Rye City School District’s APPR Plan was developed by representatives of the teachers and administrators’ associations, and central administration. The plan outlines the evaluation procedures for RCSD teachers and principals. The RCSD APPR Plan may be found on the NYSED website.

New York’s Dignity for All Students Act seeks to provide the State’s students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function.

Students, parents, faculty, and staff can report incidents of harassment, bullying and/or discrimination to the principal or to your school psychologist.
