About the Board of Education

  • The Rye City School District is governed by an elected seven-person Board of Education. Meetings of the Board are held at 8:00 p.m. on scheduled Tuesday evenings in the Rye Middle School Multipurpose Room and are recorded and posted to the RCSD website where they may be viewed on demand.

    Communication with the Board

    The entire Board of Education may be contacted via email at Individual Board members can also be contacted using their respective individual email address.

    Further, communicating with members of the Board of Education can be done with the submission of a completed "Communication to the Board of Education" form. For a communication to be considered promptly, it must be received by 10 a.m. on the Thursday before any Board meeting. If it is received after that time, it will be delivered to the Board prior to the subsequent Board of Education meeting, usually within two weeks.

    On the agenda are fiscal, special education, personnel and business items that ordinarily come before the Board. In addition, there will be a presentation of the Superintendent's End of Year Report.

    Prior to the meeting, beginning at 6:00 P.M., it is anticipated that the Board will meet in Executive Session for the review of the employment history of current and prospective employees, negotiations pursuant to the Taylor Law, review of current litigation and litigation strategy.
