Welcome to Kindergarten!

  • Kindergarten is a magical, joyful time in a child’s life. So much learning and development occurs during this year!  The curriculum is designed to support instruction that promotes further development for all learners socially, emotionally, and academically. Teachers differentiate instruction to match the needs of individual students.  Our goal is to develop life-long learners by providing a stimulating and nurturing environment.

    Language Arts

    • Identify and print capital and lowercase letters
    • Recognize consonant letter sounds…beginning, middle, and ending
    • Identify and sound out short vowel words
    • Segment/Blend sounds
    • Read decodable books
    • Read basic sight words
    • Distinguish between real and make believe
    • Identify story details (plot, setting, characters, main idea)
    • Recognize statements, questions, and exclamation sentences
    • Write sentences beginning with a capital letter
    • End sentences with a punctuation mark
    • Show proper spacing between words
    • Identify and produce rhyming words

    Mathematics

    • Recognize numbers to 100
    • Copy, create, and extend patterns
    • Create, read, and interpret a graph
    • Identify sets
    • Solve story problems using manipulatives
    • Sort objects by color, shape, size, taller, shorter, heavier, and lighter
    • Identify and write shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, hexagon, cone, cylinder, and sphere)
    • Count to 100 by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s
    • Compare lengths
    • Identify ordinal positions
    • Add and subtract numbers within 10
    • Compare objects; more, fewer, and same
    • Identify, write and count objects to 20
    • Represent two-digit numbers using 10's and 1's

    Science

    • Explore concepts of Weather, Force and Motion, and Needs and Wants

    Social Studies

    • Understand concepts of Citizenship, Myself and Others, and Economics and Geography
