Andrea Silviotti Named Teacher of the Year

Midland School fifth grade teacher Andrea Silviotti has been named Rye City School District Teacher of the Year for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. The announcement was made on June 26 at the Closing Day ceremony for RCSD faculty and staff.
 

Nominated by her fellow teachers, administrators, and current and former parents and students, Teachers of the Year have personified the finest attributes of the teaching profession: dedication, commitment, and visible caring for their vocation, their students and their colleagues.
 

Silviotti was described as a kind, compassionate, patient and understanding teacher who gets to know each child. Fellow teachers are inspired by her dedication to her craft and creative ways of motivating students. Silviotti is also described as an outside-of-the-box thinker who challenges her students to do their best work and reach their full potential. She eagerly implements new strategies and ideas into her classroom practice, modeling lifelong learning for both colleagues and students.
