BOE Goals for 2025-2026

Each summer at the RCSD’s Board of Education’s annual retreat, the Board dedicates time to discussing its goals for the school year ahead. At the September 30 Board of Education meeting, the Board presented the goals for the 2025-2026 school year (click here and watch beginning at 4:00).

Board President Jane Anderson began the discussion by reminding the community that “The work and the focus of the Board of Education is tied to mission and vision. The Board is not the ‘doer’ of the work of the District - that is left to the very capable hands of our administrators…we want to make sure that our goals are able to provide guidance to our administrators, to our superintendent, of how we envision and would like to see our District operate.”

Similar to years past, the Board is focused on three main areas:  Instruction & Professional Growth, Communication & Engagement, and Operations & Fiscal Management. Those three areas were also the main areas of focus for the 2024-2025 school year, and the Board decided to continue with those three key areas for 2025-2026.

This year, the Board has added more explicit actions under each of the three main focus areas. In addition, the Board has added language within each of the goals related to the District’s Strategic Plan to ensure that the Board’s goals are tied to the Strategic Plan, as the administrative goals will be. As Jane Anderson put it, “[The] Plan is not to be something that sits in isolation, but really is something that is rooted in the mission and vision and the goals that we all set from the Board and the teachers and the administrators."
