Community Update: 11/8/24
Dear RCSD Community,
Please remember that schools and offices are closed this coming Monday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day.
Many and heartfelt thanks to all of the veterans near and far who have served and are serving our country. Rye American Legion Post 128 is holding its annual Veterans Day observance Monday at 10:30 a.m. on the Village Green (the event will move indoors if necessary). The keynote speaker is Captain Leo Matthews, a 2011 graduate of Rye High School currently serving as an instructor of American Politics at West Point. A military intelligence officer by profession, Captain Matthews served with the 75th Ranger Regiment from 2018-2022 and completed three deployments to Afghanistan. Previously, he served in the 173rd Infantry Brigade as an infantry officer.
Rye Fund for Education
Thank you to the many of you who came out to the Rye Fund for Education annual appeal launch event at the Rye Grill and Bar on Wednesday night, despite being bleary eyed from a lethal combination of daylight savings time and late night election result viewing (myself included). Go Garnets!

Superintendent Search Page
Please note that we have created a new page on the District website dedicated to the Superintendent Search. The page can be accessed from the home page (www.ryeschools.org), by hovering over the words “Board of Education” in the upper right hand corner menu. If you’re one to go directly to a particular school’s home page, the link is there on the upper right hand corner of the school page. We will continually update the page as the search process moves forward.
Next Week is National School Psychology Week
November 11-15 marks National School Psychology Week, dedicated to highlighting the important work school psychologists do to help all students thrive. Thank you, school psychologists. You make a critical difference in the lives of our students and their families every day.
Don’t forget that RMS is presenting Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR at 7:00 p.m. tonight and tomorrow night. To the cast and crew, break a leg (fin?)!
Have a terrific long weekend.
Sincerely,
Eric Byrne, Ed.D.
