Community Update: 3/7/25

Community Update: 3/7/25

Dear RCSD Community,

If you’ve ever thought about school board service, please consider coming to the RCSD Board of Education Service Interest Meeting this Tuesday, March 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the RMS Multipurpose Room. Current members of the Board of Education and I will be on hand to provide an informal primer on School Board service. Hear about the experiences of Board members and learn about Board responsibilities, time commitment, and election procedures. We promise to keep it both short and informative!

Open Topics Forum at Tuesday’s BOE Meeting

Also, on Tuesday, March 11, we will hold the second of two Open Topics forums at the Board of Education meeting. These forums are a chance for community members to meet with small groups of Board members in an informal setting. If you have questions about the 2025-2026 school district budget or any other matter having to do with the school district, or if you just want to make a comment or give feedback, this is a great way to go about it. At the conclusion of the small group sessions, we recap the discussions for the benefit of the public.

Budget and BOE Trustee Vote

On Tuesday, May 20, the community will be asked to vote on the 2025-2026 school district budget and for Board of Education trustees. From now until then, BOE meetings will be chock full of budget information and details.  This coming Tuesday night’s meeting will cover the Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, and the Pupil Personnel Services & Special Education portions of the budget, and March 25th’s will focus on Technology, Athletics, and Facilities. As we get closer to the vote, please take a moment to check your voter registration status here. If you are new to Rye or have moved within Rye, please register to vote or re-register to vote here.
