Community Update: 4/4/25

Community Update: 4/4/25

Dear RCSD Community,

Here we are in April, which is certainly bringing us a lot of showers! Believe it or not, we are finishing up the third quarter of the 2024-2025 school year. That happened fast!  We are at work on the End-of-Year calendars so you can keep track of all the doings at every level. We usually get those out to families in May.

Rye Fund for Education Gala

The Rye Fund for Education held its annual gala last night, and it was amazing. My favorite part was seeing all the students showing off their projects using RFE-funded equipment -- everything from remote-controlled robots to a podcast sound system. Thank you to the RFE and to those who came and helped raise funds to support innovation in our schools. If you would like to learn more about the over $1 million in grants the Fund has given to the schools in just two years, or to donate, the link is here.

National School Librarians Day

Today is National School Librarians Day. April 6-12  is National Library Week. Or perhaps you’d prefer to mark the occasion on National Librarian Day (April 16). Whatever day you choose, please don’t forget to celebrate our librarians! A big thank you to our school librarians and library clerks for keeping books in students’ hands and so much more.

Softball Car Wash Saturday POSTPONED

The girls varsity softball team was planning a car wash this Saturday, but then they took a look at the weather forecast and thought better of it! It’s been moved to May 17.

Bike Rodeo Sunday

In defiance of the iffy weather, the Rye Traffic & Pedestrian Safety team are hosting a Bike Rodeo on Sunday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. There are all sorts of wonderful (free) offerings, including a bike and gear check, safety education, and some fun skill stations. The Rye PD will be on hand, helping out bike riders of all ages.

Have a wonderful weekend!
