Community Update: 5/2/25
Dear RCSD Community,
It’s May, so that means it’s school district budget vote and trustee election time. New York State is again allowing us to offer early voting for the RCSD 2025-2026 budget vote and Board of Education trustee election. What this means for you is that you can come into the office at 555 Theodore Fremd, Suite B101, fill out an application form, and get a ballot right away. Similarly, you can fill out an application and mail it in, and the ballot will be mailed directly to your home. The link is here.
“What am I voting on?” you may well ask. All the information about the RCSD 2025-2026 school district budget can be found here. Prefer a more interactive format? Come to the Budget Hearing this Tuesday at the May 6 Board of Education meeting. Like your news in print? Look out for the Focus on Excellence budget newsletter, which should be landing in your mailboxes shortly. It will have all sorts of information about the budget and the Board of Education trustee candidates.
Critical Thinking Expo
Also on May 6, we will be hosting our annual Critical Thinking Expo from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the RMS Gym. First through twelfth graders will host booths in the RMS gym for Board of Education trustees, teachers, administrators, and parents to explore. I am always struck by how passionate and well-informed the students are about their projects. Please join us as we learn how critical thinking applies to student projects and research.
Tonight's LAX Game Supports Morgan’s Message
The RHS Varsity Girls Lacrosse team will be playing Bronxville at home tonight at 7:00 p.m. The game is dedicated to raising awareness and fundraising for Morgan's Message, an organization that strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community. Several members of the team serve as Morgan's Message Ambassadors. Please come out to the turf to support the team and Morgan's Message. Go Garnets!
The Midland Fair is Tomorrow!
Tomorrow from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. is the annual Midland Fair, which has a “Bulldog Luau” theme this year. Due to the forecast, the fair will be held indoors with some of the larger outdoor activities (i.e., bouncy houses and bumper cars) set up outside in case the weather cooperates. Indoors, you will find plenty to keep the littles busy, including the ever popular Win A Cake game, the Bulldog Salon, arts and crafts, and carnival booths and arcade games. Surf on down to Midland School!
