Community Update: 5/23/25
Dear RCSD Community,
You may be a bit tired of hearing from me after the barrage of voting reminders earlier this week, so I will keep it short(ish)! Thank you to the many of you who turned out to vote in the annual budget vote and Board of Education election on what turned out to be a beautiful Tuesday. It’s a testament to the community’s commitment to high quality public education in Rye that we received an 83% percent “yes” vote. Thank you for your continued support of our schools!
We had an uncontested Board of Trustees election again this year, with two incumbent candidates running for two seats on the Board. Current Board President Jane Anderson and current Vice President Jennifer Boyle were reelected. Congratulations to them, and we thank them in advance for their service.
No School Tomorrow
As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow as we “give back” the second and last of our snow/emergency days for the school year. RCSD offices are also closed. Enjoy the extra day!
Senior Internships/Prom/Graduation
This week, our seniors began their month-long senior internships. We hope they find their internships both interesting and rewarding. Plans for Prom and Graduation for the class of 2025 are in full swing. Prom will take place on Friday, May 30, at Surf Club on the Sound. Graduation is planned for Friday, June 20, at 6:30 p.m. in Nugent Stadium. There is no rain date; the ceremony will move indoors if the weather is inclement. We are so excited to celebrate our seniors and their accomplishments in the days and weeks to come.
Osborn Inflatables Race
For this month’s spirit assembly at Osborn School, students were treated to an inflatables race. If you’ve never seen teachers dressed as dinosaurs, fish, and other critters racing around a soccer field, I highly recommend it. Click here to see the race.
Have a good Memorial Day weekend, and we’ll see everyone on Tuesday!
Sincerely,
Eric Byrne, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
