RCSD 2024-2025 School Year Calendar
Dear RCSD Community,
Please find the 2024-2025 School District calendar which was approved at last night's Board of Education meeting. The calendar is also posted to the District's website: go to www.ryeschools.org, scroll down and click on the "CALENDAR" icon in the red bar, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says "District One Page Calendar." The current year's and next year's calendars are both there.
There are some notable differences in next year’s calendar:
-
Rosh Hashanah falls during the school week in 2024 rather than on a weekend, resulting in October 3 & 4 as holidays
-
We are adding Diwali (November 1) as a new holiday
-
For the first time in a long time, we have a full two-week Winter Recess
-
The Lunar New Year (January 29) is a new New York State holiday
-
Spring Break in 2025 is the third week of April which coincides with both Easter and Passover. This should please those who were less than happy about this year’s March spring break!
We added some verbiage at the bottom of the page to provide some guidance about snow/emergency days. We hope it helps clarify the age-old question of in what order days are “given back.”
As a reminder, half-days are indicated by a diagonal line through the day - please check to make sure the half-day applies to your child’s school. Finally, the first and last days of school are indicated by a bold box colored yellow.
Finally, the last day for students is June 27 in 2025. We recognize this is a late end to the school year for many families looking to begin vacation travel or summer camp. Unfortunately, we have no say in the matter. The State Education Department tells the school district what the last day of school will be, and we, and all other districts in New York, must comply. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this causes you or your family.
Best regards,
Eric Byrne, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
