  • School Reopening Task Force Update

    At last night's Board of Education meeting, members of the Reopening Task Force presented an update of our work in preparing for September. The guiding principle of the task force is to define a safe, operationally-sound, and high-quality instructional program with a structured, consistent day for our students.

  • RMS District-Issued Student Chromebooks for 2020-21 School Year

    This fall Rye Middle School will transition to 1:1 Chromebooks for all students in grades 6-8. Each student will now have a District-issued device that will no longer be shared. Students will have the tools and resources for 21st-century learning;: technology will be integrated throughout the curriculum. Increasing access to technology is essential to building college and career-readiness skills. Individual use of Chromebooks is a way to empower students to maximize their full potential and to prepare them for the future.

    I am pleased to share with you that the District will soon have a new Director of Athletics. I am recommending that the Board of Education appoint Ms. Susan Dullea as Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics, effective July 1, 2020.

    As you know, Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order closed schools for the remainder of the school year with a continuation of remote learning. Our school year was to have ended on Friday, June 26.

  • RMS Spring 2020 Finals

    I have been receiving a few questions from parents about whether or not final exams will be administered this spring. Back in April, I sent out a communication in conjunction with High School Principal Taylor about 4th quarter grading and noted that final exams and projects would be at the discretion of the department or team and would be calculated into fourth quarter grades.

  • COVID-19 Health Alert

    On Friday, May 8th, the State issued an advisory about a syndrome observed in children and its potential association with COVID-19. Pediatric Multi-System Inflammatory Syndrome may cause a persistent fever, inflammation of blood vessels, rash, abdominal symptoms (pain, vomiting, diarrhea), and cardiovascular symptoms.

  • RCSD Schools to Remain Closed for the Remainder of the School Year

    Today in his daily press conference, Governor Cuomo announced that all New York State schools will remain closed for the remainder of the school year due to the coronavirus crisis. Remote learning is to continue for the remainder of the school year, and our buildings and campuses will remain closed.
