RCSD In-Person and Fully-Remote Survey/Last Night’s BoE Meeting/Reopening Q&As

Dear RCSD Parents and Guardians,

Thank you to those of you who were able to attend last night’s Board of Education meeting about the District’s proposed reopening. Unfortunately, the platform that the District uses for Board meetings, Google Meets, automatically caps meeting attendance at 250 on a first-come, first-served basis. We know that many in our community who wanted to watch the meeting were unable to do so, and for that, we apologize most sincerely. A video of the meeting will be posted to the District's website shortly. In the meantime, the presentation slide deck from last night’s meeting is attached for your reference.

As part of the necessary data gathering for the proposed phased reopening of full-time, in-person school, the District is collecting information about instructional preferences for the remainder of the school year. Please aid us in our planning process by filling out the survey linked below to indicate your choice for in-person or fully-remote schooling for your student(s) for the remainder of the school year. Please submit a survey for each of your children that attend school in the District and specify their grade level and school. Please complete the survey even if you have already completed a separate survey for RHS or your child/children are already in the fully-remote program. If you are not interested in the fully-remote option, please be sure to indicate that choice in the final question. Please submit this survey by Monday, February 8, 2021.

I recognize that parents will have questions about what reopening will look like for the school district.  I will address reopening and answer questions in the community forums planned for next week. Date and time information for the sessions are below, and the login information for each session is linked. These meetings are also capped at 250 participants.

The District will also be offering several grade-level specific sessions if you prefer to attend with parents of students in the same age range. Login information for these sessions is linked below:

Thank you for your continued support as we work to reopen the District's schools for full-time, in-person learning.
