Community Cafe on 2019-20 School District Budget - Thursday, April 11, 7:00-9:00 p.m., RMS MPR

Dear Rye Community,

While the School District’s annual budget vote and trustee election on May 21 seems far away, it will be here before we know it. Please consider joining me on Thursday, April 11 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the RMS Multipurpose Room for a "Community Café" on the 2019-20 School District budget.  The Community Café event is intended to be a round-table style discussion to take a deep dive into the 2019-20 school year budget as it pertains areas of interest to parents, faculty and staff, and members of the community.

After a very brief overview of the 2019-2020 School District budget, attendees will move from one table to the next in 15-minute increments to learn more about specific budget categories. Each table will be hosted by an administrator who will provide a short overview of program changes, highlights, and additions and subtractions in the proposed school budget. There will be ample time to ask questions. Participants should feel free to visit only those tables of interest, and shouldn't don't feel compelled to stay for the entire two hours if there are other demands on their time.

The individual tables will focus on:

  • Technology
  • Athletics
  • Operations and Maintenance
  • Special Education
  • Staffing and Professional Development
  • High School/Middle School/Elementary Schools

I hope to see you on the evening of Thursday, April 11.

Eric Byrne, Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools
