RCSD: Enjoy the Summer

Dear RCSD Community,

A full, uninterrupted school year. After two years with major disruptions, we have all successfully navigated the 2021-2022 school year. After this message, you won’t be hearing from me every Friday afternoon until school is back in session in September. Perhaps the absence of my weekly community update will cause you to miss these informational blasts (perhaps not)!

Many thanks to our amazing faculty, staff, and administration for all their hard work, perseverance, and flexibility as they led our school community through a very successful year. There were days and weeks where everyone was stretched thin, yet this wonderful group pulled through and kept us moving forward with great instruction and programming.

As everyone heads off in varying directions for the summer, know that our facilities, custodial, clerical, and administrative team will be working hard in preparation for September. There will be lots of construction in the buildings with more upgrades funded by the capital project. We look forward to showing off our new instructional spaces and facilities improvements to the community this fall. Watch this space for tour dates and times!

So many of our teachers, administrators, and support staff will be participating in professional learning programs in literacy, mathematics, curriculum development, project-based and social-emotional learning. The commitment to continual improvement made by our faculty, staff, and administration is both admirable and appreciated. All of these efforts make the Rye City School District a wonderful place to learn, work, and grow.

“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time." - John Lubbock, The Use of Life (1894)

Happy summer!
