Social-Emotional Learning at the RCSD

Social-Emotional Learning at the RCSD

Social-emotional wellness is an important focus at the RCSD. Over the summer, the District hired Elementary Guidance Counselor, Rosemarie Bracciodieta, who works with students at all three elementary schools, mainly on social-emotional development, which, in addition to supporting wellbeing, also contributes to academic achievement and future college and career readiness.

RMS has begun a program of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) adapted for a school environment for all 6th graders in physical education classes. DBT is a cognitive-behavioral program that teaches students to live in the moment, cope healthily with stress, regulate emotions, and improve relationships with others; all important life skills for navigating middle school and beyond.
